WELCOME TO
AAMU SCHOOL

At AAMU School, we are passionately dedicated to supporting Afghan children living in the United Kingdom by providing them with a nurturing space where they can connect with their heritage, culture, and identity. Our school serves as a cornerstone for preserving Afghan traditions while helping the younger generation develop a deeper understanding of their roots.
Every Saturday, we host specialised classes designed to teach Dari / Farsi , one of the primary languages of Afghanistan. Through these language lessons, we strive to ensure that Afghan children maintain and strengthen their native language skills, fostering bilingualism that opens doors to both their cultural heritage and opportunities in the UK. Additionally, our lessons go beyond language instruction, encompassing engaging and interactive sessions on Afghan culture, history, and customs. This holistic approach helps children to gain a sense of pride in their origins while building a strong cultural foundation.
At the heart of AAMU School is a mission to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where children feel valued and supported. We recognise that many of our students may be far from the familiarity of their home country, and we aim to bridge that gap by offering a space where they can celebrate their identity and form lasting bonds within their community. Our school is more than just a place of learning—it is a sanctuary where Afghan children can feel a sense of belonging and continuity.
Our educational programmes also focus on instilling confidence, resilience, and a sense of pride in Afghan heritage. By introducing children to the richness of their cultural traditions, we empower them to embrace their identities while adapting to life in the UK. From historical storytelling and traditional arts to lessons on Afghan values and festivals, our curriculum inspires curiosity and a lifelong appreciation for their roots.
AAMU School is made possible thanks to the generous support of our donors, whose contributions help us provide high-quality educational resources, hire dedicated instructors, and organise cultural activities. With their help, we are able to offer children a unique learning experience that celebrates the vibrant legacy of Afghanistan.
We warmly invite parents, children, and community members to join us as we celebrate and preserve the rich heritage of Afghanistan, one lesson at a time. Together, we can ensure that the next generation of Afghan children carries forward the traditions, language, and culture that define their identity, while building bright and successful futures in the United Kingdom.
SUMMARY:
Aamu School is an excited functional school operating since May 2017.
Until 2020, Aamu School operated face to face classes in Birmingham, after the COVID-19 pandemic, Aamu School continued its operations online via Zoom classes.
Aamu online class offers ample physical freedom to students. Students aren’t confined within the walls of conventional school. Since they attend online classes via their computer or laptop, they can attend school from anywhere in the world (as long as the time zones align).
This works exceptionally well for families that travel or relocate frequently.
We currently have 8 classes, from beginner level to the higher stages.
Afghan migrants both male and female including children who are a minority group are always a soft target for gang, drug trafficking and particularly radicalized groups which easily can be recruited, brain washed and turned into a trained gang, terrorist or violent person in the community which can cause problems within the community. Mr. Khabir, an engineer, had a son whose sad experience is a bold example of why we’re trying to make this change. Mr. Khabir is the head of a traditional Afghan family with a large number of children. He graduated from the University of Moscow in the nineties and he fervently despises any religious radical groups. Mr. Khabir is genuinely against Islamic radicalism, but his teenage son got involved with the wrong group of people and moved to Syria to fight as an ISIS member. After one month he was killed in Syria. We left our homeland in Afghanistan to keep our children safe, not only from bullets and suicide attacks, but from their radical ideology and this community would allow us to have more positive and influential impact on the young Muslim community.
Aamu school facilitates and promotes healthy engagements and establishes the relationship between the community and Afghan refugees and Asylum seekers via various practical and fun activities. The activities are the tools which keeps the children, young person and teenagers engaged and eliminates the potential risks of joining the terrorist or gang groups. Additionally, the activities improve language skills if Aamu School pupils which will support the UK future work force.
Similarly, the activities Aamu school will run have a direct and indirect impact on the anti-radicalization, anti-violence and anti-gang messages which communicates to the Afghan refugee children, in both English and local language accompanied by visual presentations via posters, drawings, art works and examples.
On the other hand, the activity will facilitate the ground for Afghan refugee teenage and children, to get to learn Persian / Farsi language skills. All of whom can be future bilingual multi skilled work force for the UK community.
